The Texas State Legislature authorized the creation of local transit authorities in 1973. In 1978, Houston-area voters created METRO and approved a one-cent sales tax to support its operations. METRO opened for business in January 1979. In 25 years, the Authority has transformed a broken bus fleet into a regional multimodal transportation system.
Positions Available:
Metro is always looking for qualified candidates to add to our team professionals. We have more than 3670 employees at 11 different locations throughout Houston. We are looking for the following:
Manager of Capital Budgets, this person will be responsible for managing the development, monitoring and maintenance of the capital program budgets and expenditures. Manages the preparation of the capital program cost reports. Manages the daily activities of the Capital Budget section. Manages the coordination, preparation and update of the Capital Cost Report, the annual Capital Improvement Program, and the annual Capital Budget. Performs other duties as assigned.
Design Build Construction Manager, this person will oversee METRO Solutions construction work. Ensure the various projects meet METRO’s organizational objectives. Provide problem solving capabilities to resolve project issues. Promote integrated project team approach from project start to completion to all project team members including but not limited to other METRO departments, Facility Provider, other contractors, etc. Represent METRO as needed with various stakeholders to meet METRO’s organizational objectives.
Provides technical evaluation and negotiation support necessary to resolve construction claims brought against METRO; ensures facility provider(s) are maintaining safety standards and QA/QC standards. Performs other duties as assigned.
Sr. Project Control Specialist, this person will develops and monitors capital program costs and schedules. Provides support to Project Managers and coordinates cost and scheduling activities with various groups.
Other duties include supervising Program Control Staff and Consultants. Coordinates with Project Directors to develop and monitor costs and schedules for capital projects. Develops and utilizes computerized cost and scheduling systems for project monitoring and analysis. Perform other duties as assigned.
