Job Titles and Descriptions:

Revenue Agent - Large & MidSize Business (LMSB)

As an IRS Revenue Agent in our LMSB Division, you'll administer the tax examinations of the largest corporations in the world, frequently dealing with issues such as tax shelters, mergers and acquisitions, and global operations. You'll work closely with senior-level executives of corporate tax departments and their representatives, facing significant challenges in researching and developing tax issues, and in communicating with the taxpayers.

Intern Position Requirements:

-A recent graduate (or will graduate by August, 2007) with a Master of Accounting, Master of Taxation, or an MBA with a concentration in Accounting or Taxation? (Your coursework must include a minimum of 24 semester hours of Accounting.)
-A U.S. citizen?
-Eager to pursue a career in federal income tax administration, where you will receive training and experience working with large, complex, corporate tax examinations?

Positions are also available for accountants with experience

Revenue Agent - Small Business/Self Employed:

As an IRS Revenue Agent in our SB/SE Division, you'll plan and conduct on-site examinations and investigations of individuals and small businesses to determine their federal tax liability. Working regularly with taxpayers, their representatives, certified public accountants and attorneys, you'll apply a range of financial and other investigative skills to analyze intricate and complex accounting systems, business activities and financing. Requires a Bachelors degree, 30 semester hours of accounting, and US citizenship.

Tax Compliance Officer:

Tax Compliance Officers at the IRS interact with customers who are served by the Small Business/Self Employed (SBSE) division. This key position acts as the single point of contact to resolve both general and technical customer issues. In particular, Tax Compliance Officers plan and conduct examinations and related investigations of individual and business taxpayers, plus analyze taxpayers' financial condition and related operations. They also provide tax law and tax-related accounting educational assistance for internal and external customers.

Successful candidates are usually business majors and others who possess six semester hours of accounting, or who can pass an accounting proficiency test.
