The Rockefeller University is a world-renowned center for scientific research and graduate education in the biomedical sciences, chemistry, and physics. Founded by John D. Rockefeller, Sr. in 1901 as the nation’s first institute for medical research, the University has a unique laboratory-based structure that encourages interdisciplinary research, the force that drives scientific achievement today. The University is made up of 75 independent laboratories that are free to interact in any and all directions.
